Enjoy your holiday in Tenerife with Bahía del Duque, on a responsible journey that will connect you with the true essence of the island
Tenerife is a jewel of the Atlantic, renowned for its natural beauty, privileged climate, and rich culture. At Bahía del Duque, where sustainability plays a key role, we offer you the opportunity to connect with this island in a conscious and respectful way, through an experience that embraces its tradition, heritage, and unique nature.
From the moment you step through the hotel doors, you will notice the deep connection we maintain with our surroundings. The Canarian roots of our brand are reflected in details such as the beautiful traditional attire proudly worn by our team. Our buildings, inspired by 19th-century Canarian architecture, also convey the island’s essence and heritage.
Tenerife: A natural paradise worth protecting

Tenerife is a sanctuary of biodiversity thanks to its variety of microclimates and natural habitats. From the majestic Teide National Park to the lush Anaga mountains, the island is home to around 1,400 plant species, including about 200 Canary Islands endemics and 140 unique to Tenerife.
The fauna is also rich and diverse, with around 400 fish species, 56 bird species, 5 reptiles species, 2 amphibians species, 13 mammals species and several thousand invertebrates species, as well as some species of sea turtles and cetaceans.
We invite you to discover this biodiversity on a sustainable journey through environmentally friendly activities, such as hiking along marked trails, whale-watching excursions with certified operators, and visits to organic farms where local products are grown.
Craftsmanship and tradition: Living culture supporting responsible tourism
Travelling responsibly also means immersing yourself in local traditions. In Tenerife, craftsmanship holds a special place. Our team of experience creators will help you organise visits to workshops where wickerwork, ceramics, and embroidery are crafted, giving you the chance to discover the history and culture behind these ancestral practices.
Local markets such as those in La Laguna and the Tegueste Farmer’s Market, as well as numerous craft fairs, are ideal places to acquire unique products that directly support Tenerife’s artisan communities and its farmers and ranchers.
Gastronomy with its own identity: farm-to-table flavours
Canarian cuisine is a true reflection of its culture and surroundings. At our hotel you will find a gastronomic offer that is committed to local produce, many of which come from traditional and sustainable farming.
Savour artisanal cheeses, volcanic wines, and other local products while enjoying a gastronomic experience truly connected to our roots, one that cares for the environment and supports the local economy.
Shared commitment to responsible tourism

At Bahía del Duque, we believe it is essential to balance tourism activities with respect for nature and the community around us. Our commitment is reflected in the implementation of an Environmental Management System in accordance with the ISO 14001:2015 standard, as well as the sustainability certifications we have achieved, including:
- EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme), awarded by the European Union

We invite you to visit our sustainability page to discover more about our initiatives and how you can also be part of this movement towards more conscious and responsible luxury tourism.
Our environmental and social efforts
Our commitment to sustainability is evident in every detail of the hotel. Some of the main environmental and social actions we carry out include:
- Use of renewable energy to minimise environmental impact.
- Strict waste management through recycling programmes and the reduction of single-use plastics throughout our facilities.
- Maintenance and care of over 63,000 m² of gardens.
- 98% of our water consumption comes from desalinated sources, reducing the use of public water resources.
- We share a Responsible Tourism Good Practices Guide with our guests, accessible both on our website and in the Club House area.
- Creation and continuous improvement of an internal protocol for the protection of the Cory’s shearwater. In 2024, 13 individuals were successfully rehabilitated, reflecting our ongoing efforts and commitment to conserving local biodiversity.
- For over 25 years, we have collaborated with Ayuda en Acción through the “What can you do with €1?” project, sponsoring 40 groups of children in disadvantaged regions across nine countries, helping to improve the quality of life in their communities. Several members of our team maintain contact with these children through letters.
- We promote local talent by selling numerous products from local designers in our shops and managing the sale of items produced by third-sector associations, with all proceeds going directly to them.
- We donate non-perishable food, household items, and used goods to various social organisations.
For us, luxury and sustainability must go hand in hand to offer you a truly enriching journey, where you can enjoy Tenerife’s nature, culture, and traditions, always with respect and care for the environment. We look forward to welcoming you to discover a new way of enjoying your holiday in a this unique paradise!
