THE ZAMORANO FAMILY

The Zamorano family comes from an important line of industrialists who began their activity in the tobacco sector in 1902, setting up factories and warehouses in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Involved since its beginnings in the economic and social development of the Canary Islands, its management created commercial ties with Europe and South America, importing new technologies and participating in pioneering sectors.

The testimony of this “industrial” interest is still present today with the descendants of Mr. Luis Zamorano Tais, founder and first president of the Record Factory – since 1949, Centro Industrial de Tabaqueros Asociados (CITA) – which successfully popularized some of the main Spanish tobacco brands.

After more than 100 years since our founding, we are still pioneers, creating opportunities, investing in talent and building the future.

The Tais: origin of the name

The name “The Tais” has its origins in the maternal family of Luis Zamorano Tais, the founder of the family business whose entrepreneurial nature set the Company on its course and laid the foundations for it to become one of the leading companies in the Canary Islands.

The Tais Hotels was conceived as a result of the innovative character of the owners of Bahía del Duque, a hotel which marked a milestone in the luxury tourism sector of The Canary Islands, a member of Leading Hotels of the World and a leading example of quality and exclusivity in Europe.

The Tais: extraordinary beauty

The Tais, a name that comes from Greek, means the most beautiful. There was no other name more appropriate in ancient Greece to refer to an extraordinary woman, an icon of the beauty, intelligence, elegance and charm of the time.

Furthermore, The Tais hotels aim to enamour its guests, recreating places full of charm where that longed-for calmness can be found.
