The hotel arrives at the International Tourism Trade Show ready to present its exclusive health care services

El The Hotel Bahía del Duque, owned by the Company of the Western Islands (CIO Group), received the CaixaBank Award for Innovation and Modernization in a Tourist Business at FITUR, in the category for Best Project in social inclusion or ecological commitment. This third annual award, promoted by CaixaBank and the federations of the sector in the islands (Ashotel, Feht, Asolan and Asofuer), has recognized the Bahía del Duque Hotel as a Canarian tourist company that has made the most relevant improvements in Corporate Responsibility.

Among other aspects, the award recognised the hotel’s owner, CIO Group, with its trajectory and commitment to the environment and the community since its inception in three priority areas: employees, the environment and society. Among the actions carried out is the support of the local community through corporate volunteering, labour insertion of people at risk of exclusion and reduction of its environmental impact, managing to surpass the standards of the Biosphere Hotel Responsible Tourism System and the Travelife Gold seal of the Association of British travel agents and ABTA tour operators.

The president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, presented the award to CIO Group’s president, Francisco Javier Zamorano, who expressed his gratitude, “for a hotel like Bahía del Duque where, since its founding, we have strived to provide an excellent service in a unique environment, always demonstrating our commitment to the Canary Islands and the development of a quality tourism model in the islands. Receiving this recognition is a great source of pride and incentive to continue in our dedication to Tenerife and innovation as well as our commitment to society and the environment as distinguishing values.”

Health care and wellbeing as a distinctive proposal

Holidays are an opportunity to combine relaxation, entertainment and health care. With this premise, CIO Group’s Hotel Bahía del Duque, is presenting its exclusive wellness services at FITUR, the International Tourism Fair taking place in Madrid from 23 to 27 January. The proposal includes an expert nutritionist’s guidance, the knowledge of the Wellness Advisor, gourmet cuisine adapted to specific diets, the exclusive Bahía Wellness Retreat spa and personalised training regimes during guests’ stay.

The Bahía del Duque Hotel, in Adeje, Tenerife, has been consecrated as a destination of rest and recuperation for many international professional athletes and has recently incorporated a nutritional and dietetic advice service with state-of-the-art techniques and treatments in biological medicine, naturopathy and orthomolecular nutrition. There is also a gym where professional physiotherapists and osteopaths provide personalised attention.

The nutrition and welfare team, headed by the specialist Juan José González Santiago, integrates specific plans for slow aging, with advanced diagnostic systems to detect stress and oxidation levels, revitalising plans, specialised programmes for pregnant women and children as well as plans for athletes in which each routine is customised according to a guest’s metabolism and specific objectives. This service completes the Bahía Wellness Retreat spa proposal.

According to the hotel’s director, Cristina de Juan, “there are more and more people who, when planning a tourist trip, opt for spa hotels and services to take care of their aesthetics and health. At Bahía del Duque we have gone a step further, completing our proposal with expert advice from a nutritionist that allows guests to combine relaxation and entertainment with the ability to maintain or cultivate healthy lifestyle habits. In short, we want to make their stay at the hotel a holistic experience.”

Clients who use the nutritionist’s service can choose to adapt their menus during their stay at the hotel, through a plan jointly designed by the expert nutritionist and the Food and Beverage department. This regime includes gourmet cuisine proposals adapted to each person’s specific needs.

“In our experience we have noticed that there are many guests for whom the holidays not only represent a time for rest and relaxation, but they also mean more time to enjoy outdoor sports or start taking care of their minds and bodies. That is why we have enriched our wellness proposal by expanding our Bay Wellness Retreat to include an exclusive proposal of services such as massages based on natural elements as well as physiotherapy and osteopathy treatments,” the director of the Hotel Bahía del Duque explains.
