Bahía del Duque received one of the ‘Top 10 Re Think Prices’ for the Best Sustainability Project

The Grupo CIO hotel has received a special mention acknowledging its sustainability and rehabilitation strategy in line with the UN sustainable development goals.

The hotel Bahía del Duque, member of The Tais Hotels, has received a special mention during the Top 10 Re Think prices. It has been acknowledged as the best sustainability project for adapting to climate change, for being in line with the 2030 Agenda and the UN sustainable development goals.

The acknowledgement refers to the 17 SDG strategy and was received by Ane Ugarte, Marketing Manager of Bahía del Duque, at the Tourism State Secretariat in Madrid during an event organised by the Group Habitat Futura. The executive manager of the World Tourism Organization, Mr Manuel Butler, also participated in this event putting into value the benefits of global sustainability.

During this sixth edition of the competition Re-Think Hotel, the jury was composed by outstanding tourism and construction professionals. In this case, the special mention for Bahía del Duque under the TSMEDIA category considered facts like preserving the surrounding area, the use of eco-suppliers or the selective waste and recycling management, the building sustainability considering the use, management or maintenance, the staff training, the facilities’ efficiency and the integration of renewable energy systems; the conservation of cultural heritage, accessibility, or the social responsibility policy.

The Group Habitat Futura organized this new edition together with its official partner, the Responsible Tourism Institute. The meeting was also supported by the Tourism State Secretariat of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, the World Tourism Organisation, the Spanish Climate Change Office for an Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge and the Institute for Energy Savings and Diversification of the Spanish Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge.
