The award has been bestowed by Turismo de Tenerife (Tenerife’s Tourism Board) under the category “Best Sustainable Practices in Tourist Accommodations”
The Corporate Social Responsibility project of Bahía del Duque, a member hotel of The Tais Hotels & Villas, has been awarded during the 2020 Sustainable Practices Contest organised by Turismo de Tenerife. The award was conferred under the category “Best Sustainable Practices in Tourist Accommodations” and it acknowledges those sustainable tourism initiatives developed by the hotel.
According to Mónica Rumeu, the Corporate Social Responsibility Director of CIO Group and owner company of Bahía del Duque “this award acknowledges a business strategy that promotes a development aligned with a sustainable responsibility; it gives the hotel a new and improved opportunity to grow in the sector in line with the new social needs”.
This recognition gives visibility to the work carried out by CIO group – and in particular the Hotel Bahía del Duque – to promote a quality tourism sector in the Canary Islands; it emphasises a need to undertake environmentally-friendly actions that are therefore sustainable.
The prize was awarded by a professional and qualified jury, made up of entities such as Turismo de Tenerife (Tenerife’s Tourism Board), the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Area of the Island Council, Factoría de Innovación, Universidad de La Laguna, Clúster de Turismo and Asociación de Profesionales y Empresas de Turismo Activo de Canarias. The award ceremony is scheduled for next February.
